Dear MDBC members,
MDBC member, the Coalition for Business Integrity (CBI), together with the Malaysian Anti – Corruption Commission (MACC), and co – organizers MDBC and the Malaysian German Chamber of Commerce (MGCC), are organizing a conference in January on “Understanding the Regulatory Landscape and Cost of doing Business“.
The advent of climate change and depleting global resources have raised the need to rethink business sustainability models in all jurisdictions around the world. A new focus on the environment, social, and governance has emerged with the accompanying regulatory framework that impacts national and cross border supply chains. This conference seeks to highlight some of these regulatory requirements that may drive down the cost of doing business in Malaysia.

DR TRICIA YEOH
Tricia is the Chief Executive Officer of Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS), having formerly served as its Chief Operating Officer. She is Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Monash University Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the School of Politics, History and International Relations at the University of Nottingham Malaysia and was formerly Visiting Research Fellow at the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Tricia was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, conferred by the Sultan of Selangor (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian, PJK) in 2011. She has been awarded the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award for Monash University Malaysia, the Postgraduate Award Prize 2020/21 from the University of Nottingham, the Malaysian Australian Alumni Council’s Female Alumnus of the Year 2022 and the 25th Anniversary Alumni Award for Monash University Malaysia. She speaks and writes regularly on national public policy issues, having been featured in The Economist, CNN, Al – Jazeera, Bloomberg, and CNBC, amongst other platforms. |

CHEW PHYE KEAT
Phye Keat, a graduate of the Law faculty of University of Malaya with an LLB (Hons) and LLM, was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1987. Thereafter he joined the firm of Raja, Darryl & Loh (then known as Mah – Kok & Din) and was made a partner in 1991. He has been practicing corporate and commercial law in a number of practice areas including mergers and acquisitions, conveyancing, projects (including the first LRT STAR project), ICT law, intellectual property, competition law and lately the anti – corruption law relating to corporate liability. |

DR EVA LANGERBECK
As Deputy Executive Director of the Malaysian – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Eva Langerbeck regularly advises foreign direct investors from Germany on investments in Malaysia and supports Malaysian companies when entering the German market. This includes advice on tariff and non – tariff barriers, compliance support and supplier searches. With a background in Islamic Studies, Dr Eva Langerbeck’s research interests also include halal certification and standards. |

SUPUN NIGAMUNI
Supun is the Managing Director for Control Union Malaysia and is responsible for managing certifications for Control Union Malaysia, a global leader in sustainability assurance in agriculture industry and many other sectors. He is an accomplished forestry and environmental specialist with experience in compliance auditing, training, certification, program management and environmental assessments. He also chairs the global expert team for Control Union overseeing the certification activities related to Forestry, Palm, Sugar, Soy, Rubber and Tourism. He was formerly responsible in managing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) certification activities for Control Union Certifications worldwide, and also Environmental Services for the Asian region which provides sustainability solutions for products, entities and activities in providing ESG assurance, life cycle assessments, environmental footprints, carbon neutral certification. A senior auditor having International Auditing experience in Forest Management, Chain of Custody, RSPO P&C and SCC, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, GHG assessments, ESG assurance and other environmental and social programs across many sectors over the last 11 years. |

SAC MOHD HASRAFF HASHIM
Mohd Hasraff is Head of Private Sector Section, Community Education Division of Malaysian Anti – Corruption Commission (MACC). He primarily leads his team in providing training, particularly in Corruption Risk Management (CRM) for the Certified Integrity Officer programme. The program covers Section 17A MACC Act, National Anti – Corruption Plan, and Organisational Anti – Corruption Plan. He has represented the MACC at international workshops and forums, and has spoken at many integrity and compliance – related forums across Malaysia. Mohd Hasraff holds a Bachelor’s of Information Technology from University of Malaya and a Master’s of Science in Economic Crime Management from HELP University. He is a Certified Integrity Officer, Certified Training Professional, and holds the Certificate in Compliance by the Basel Institute on Governance, Switzerland and the Malaysian Institute of Management. |

LIM CHEE YOONG
Lim is the Managing Director of Thumbprints and serves on its board of directors. Before being named MD in 2017, he was Thumbprints’ Executive Director and was responsible for all of the company’s worldwide sales and operations, including end-to-end supply chain management, sales operation activities, service, and support in all markets and countries. He also headed the development of the paper packaging and books division and played a key role in the continued development of strategic customer and supplier relationships, and ensuring flexibility in response to an increasingly demanding marketplace. Lim joined the company in 1995 and has taken on roles of National Sales Manager and Sales Executive in the early days. |
