Dear MDBC members,

Governments have already begun taking an initiative in the development process of electric vehicles (EV).  They have adopted low carbon, energy – efficient electric or e – Vehicle technology in ‘low carbon cities’ under a Global Environment Facility (GEF) – 7 project to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduce air pollution.  Governments like that in the Philippines are also pursuing the ‘Accelerating Adoption and Scale – up of Electric Mobility for Low – Carbon City Development’ initiative.  In Singapore, the government has expressed an ambition of phasing out internal combustion engine (ICE) cars by 2040.  They have already tripled their original target of setting up 28,000 charging points to 60,000 by 2030.  With these initiatives (and many more), the Singaporean, Malaysia, Indonesian, Filipino, and Vietnamese governments are ahead of the rest of ASEAN, though they do still lag in EV adoption.

Overall, it’s the high price of vehicles and a lack of EV charging stations which are the major reasons behind a lag in EV adoption.  Ultimately, it is the leading energy and automotive companies that will have to guide countries into a new era of green vehicles.  Join us at our EV Adoption webinar and hear what the experts views are on the benefits (and flaws) of EV adoption.  Focus on how companies can crease their involvement and help fast track the adoption of EVs.
